Polarized Light Microscopy (PLM) is used for identification of asbestos in suspect bulk samples. This type of analysis is routinely used in conjunction with site assessments for the production of project specifications, and the production management plans in compliance with the EPA's AHERA Regulations. Our analysts use crystal morphology, refractive indices, pleochroism, retardation, birefringence, extinction angles and dispersion staining for the identification and detection of asbestos and other fibrous materials.
