I.H. Services

Global Environmental Management is also capable of providing monitoring and consulting/management services for other hazardous substances/environmental concerns which are most typically related to industrial or commercial facilities.

I. H. Monitoring & Analysis

Using OSHA guidelines, Global provides Industrial Hygiene and Analytical Services for a wide variety of different situations and hazardous substances.
  • Arsenic (Inorganic) As Vapor or Particulate
Arsenic is often present in the construction trades where torching and burning is involved, as well as in industrial facilities where fly-ash is present.

  • Benzene, Benzol, Phenyl Hydride
These substances are commonly found in operations where petrochemicals are used as process additives, where they are dispensed or otherwise handled.

  • Flue Gas: Carbon Monoxide, Sulfur Dioxide, Hydrogen Sulfide, et al.
Industrial facilities not operating at peak efficiency can face the expensive and dangerous proposition of exposing workers to the toxic effects of these gases.

  • Lead, Metallic, Inorganic Lead Compounds and Organic Lead Soaps
Often found in the painting industry, hazardous lead exposure can occur particularly in situations where sand blasting or cutting torches are used and surface preparation is necessary.

  • Mercury Vapor, Colloidal Mercury, Metallic Mercury, Quicksilver
As with arsenic, Global’s principle clients for the monitoring of mercury are involved in welding, cutting and torching operations.

  • Silica, Crystalline (As A Respirable Dust)
Often generated in power plants during the installation of insulating materials on mechanical and process systems, there are four types of silica which commonly appear as respirable dust.

I. H. Management & Consulting

Look to Global to provide management and consulting services in addition to our analysis and monitoring capabilities. These services can provide our clients with several key benefits, which meet and comply with many of the associated requirements under various local, state and federal mandates.
  • Design/Implementation of Hazardous Substance Standard Operating Procedures
In the interest of employee safety and regulatory compliance, Global can design “SOP’s” that may include the generation and implementation of respiratory and personal protection programs, engineering controls and work practices.

  • Facility Inspections and Audits
Look to us for the fresh perspective you need to evaluate the effectiveness of your existing Industrial Hygiene Programs and offer “duplicate” monitoring and analysis to provide a standard against which alternative methods and protocols may be prepared.

  • Programs for the Pre-Determination and Identification of Hazards
Global can identify hazardous chemicals and provide cost-effective hazard communication training, documentation, respirator selection, fit testing and monitoring services...even Written Hazard Communication Programs, if necessary.

  • Remediation Project Management and Supervision
Hazardous substances become even more so when they are in the process of remediation. Our project management and supervision will ensure that remediation is conducted in compliance with all pertinent regulations.

  • Safety and OSHA Compliance
Employee Health and Safety and OSHA compliance responsibilities are a priority in today’s workplace. Our experienced industrial and construction safety professionals can assist clients in protecting the worker from harm and the client from liability.

Environment Site Assessment

  • A Phase 1 Environmental Site Assessment serves the following purposes:
Determines whether the Property complies with local, state, and federal environmental regulations, identifies noncompliance issues regarding the property, and recommends economical solutions that will achieve compliance with applicable regulations and reduce environmental liabilities.

  • A properly performed Phase 1 ESA consists of three parts:
    • A review of government records and interviews with appropriate officials, regarding the Property and adjacent properties.
    • A site reconnaissance of the Property and all structures.
    • An evaluation of acquired information and the presentation of findings and recommendations in a written report.
  • The Department of Justice recognizes the fact that Phase I environmental site assessments (ESAs) benefit the environment and considers such proactive measures as significant factors towards mitigation of enforcement matters. In a time when regulators have little if any tolerance for noncompliance, the due diligence demonstrated in the form of a Phase 1 environmental site assessment can provide significant protection from liability for a relatively small cost.
